Canal search for missing Scots nurse last seen leaving home two days ago

Police looking for a missing Scots nurse who left her home two days ago have stepped up their search efforts.

Cops and firefighters were spotted searching a stretch of water in the Allandale area of Falkirk last night after Gillian Ballantyne vanished from Coneypark Place, Banknock, at around 10am on Tuesday July, 6.

The 50-year-old nurse anaesthetist, at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, is described as as 5'2" in height, has blue eyes, is bald and of slim build.

Gillian is believed to have been wearing jeans, a white jacket & blue head covering.

Family and friends are starting to become increasingly concerned for her safety and say her disappearance is totally out of character.

Posting on Facebook, Gillian's sister-in-law said she was last seen near Cumbernauld Airport around midday the same afternoon.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Enquires and efforts to trace Gillian Ballantyne remain ongoing."
