River Island has opened a huge store in the Trafford Centre and the changing rooms are out of this world

A huge River Island store has opened in the Trafford Centre. The new concept store, which occupies 21,000 square feet of trading space Upper Regent Crescent, promises a fully integrated shopping experience; combining physical and digital with interactive fitting rooms and self-service tills.

River Island’s design-led womenswear clothing and accessories will be offered alongside the brand’s denim range. Menswear will carry leisurewear, denim in various fits and washes and a range of suits and smart wear.

While Kidswear will offer RI baby, mini and older kids’ ranges with highlights including cute co-ords and everyday essentials. As part of the launch celebrations, from May 5-7, the new River Island Studios store will host a programme of in-store events and activities for shoppers, including pop-ups from local, Manchester businesses and a ‘Spin the Wheel’ game.

On Friday morning we visited the new River Island Trafford Centre store ourselves, and it is absolutely massive. One of the highlights of the new store are the boudoir-like changing rooms, which feature touch screens that allow you to call for different sizes or styles of clothes. It's literally like being in the Clueless film.

Another brilliant feature I found inside the huge new Trafford Centre River Island store is its self checkout tills. There are, of course, staffed tills too, but like its neighbour H&M, the retailer has given shoppers the option for a speedier checkout with self-service tills, which are card only.

In store, there are more Spring and Summer styles than you can shake a glittery fashion stick at. There are dedicated sections for womenswear, menswear and kidswear. All styles have been perfectly sectioned with other bits and pieces which compliment them, so picking an outfit has never been easier.

Customers will also receive a complimentary flower bouquet from The Bud & Pot when they spend over £75 and they can enjoy coffee from a tuk tuk while simultaneously doing good as all proceeds from coffee sales will go to Newlife The Charity for Disabled Children.

Gemma Scarfe, Digital & Marketing Director for River Island, said: “We are extremely excited to announce that River Island is opening a brand new store in the Trafford Centre. Manchester has been on our radar for some time; it has continued to receive huge investment over the last few years and has cemented its position as a world-class city.

"We’re delighted to have identified a new, larger retail space that will deliver a fun and refreshing shopping experience to our loyal customers as well as complement the thriving city.”
