River Island and New Look are among a growing number of high-street fashion brands that have closed retail stores in 2025 — and more may be yet to come.
Months after Poundland and Costa Coffee announced they were in trouble, it now appears that the demise of the high street is also affecting the fashion space.
This year has marked a dramatic low point for retailers, as rising rents and dwindling sales have left many brands considering closure.
This also marks bad news for retail staff, as retail employment has also recorded a significant slump compared to previous years.
While the upcoming festive season usually correlates with an uptick in sales and more staff needing to cover the Christmas rush, the trajectory of UK stores generally paints a grim picture of the future of shopping.
Here’s a list of all the fashion brands that have closed stores in 2025 and what others are scheduled to also shut down this year.
