River Gryffe incident: Teenage boy critical in hospital after being pulled from water

A teenage boy is in critical condition in hospital after being recovered from a river in Renfrewshire.

Police and emergency services were called to the River Gryffe near to Auchans Farm in Houston around 6:50pm last night in response to the incident.

The teenager was pulled from the water and rushed by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

Officers confirm that enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We were made aware of a teenage boy in the River Gryffe near to Auchans Farm around 6.50pm on Wednesday, 2 June.

“The boy was recovered from the water and was taken to Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow where he remains in a critical condition.

“Enquires are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
