River Forest house once owned by Outfit boss sells for $1.2 million

Aug. 06--A contemporary-style home in River Forest that reputed mob boss Joseph Andriacchi owned until 1996 sold on June 30 for $1.209 million.

For more than two decades, Andriacchi has been reported by law enforcement and the Chicago Crime Commission to be a high-ranking member of the Chicago Outfit. Now 82, Andriacchi was identified in 1990 by the Chicago Crime Commission as a member of the Outfit's Elmwood Park street crew. In 1997, Andriacchi was identified as the chief of the Outfit's North Side street crew. In 2007, the Tribune reported that commission leaders' intelligence from law enforcement sources had indicated that Andriacchi was controlling the mob's north region and heading its Elmwood Park crew.

Built in 1984, the contemporary-style 4,624-square-foot house has been renovated and has a floating staircase and a grand two-story foyer, along with a state-of-the-art kitchen, 4 1/2 custom baths and an attached and heated two-car garage.

Andriacchi sold the home in 1996 for $552,500, after he moved to a larger home he had built just a block east. Andriacchi continues to own that second home, which he first listed last summer for $2.15 million. It was most recently available for $1.69 million, although it was taken off the market Monday.

Listing agent Tony Iwersen did not respond to a request for comment.
