River Clyde – Police trawl water in desperate overnight search for man in Clyde

A police rescue mission launched last night continues this morning after two men were reported to be in the River Clyde.

Emergency services scrambled to Blantyre Mill Road, Bothwell and Station Road after the alarm was raised at around 10:10pm. One man managed to get out of the water himself – though the search continues for the other.

Lifeboats were seen trawling the water as police and paramedics waited on David Livingstone Bridge for several hours until the early hours of this morning.

A spokesman for Police Scotland confirms the man is still missing.

He said: "At about 10:10pm last night, emergency services responded to a report of two men in the River Clyde near Mill Road, Bothwell.

"One of the men managed to get out of the water himself and did not require further treatment. The search for the other man is ongoing."
