River City actor and trans rights activist David Paisley has had to leave his home after a string of ‘personal threats’ were made against him.

The 42-year-old actor from Falkirk said that he ‘no longer felt safe’ at his home after his personal details were posted online.

He told fans that police were called to his home, but he has now left the property to reside ‘somewhere safe’.

Writing on Twitter, David said: “So I’ve had to leave my home as I no longer felt safe.

“Individuals posted my details online, including that they know where I live and made threats to my personal safety.

“The police put my home on a rapid response but due to safety concerns I’ve left and I’m staying somewhere safe.

“I’ve no further comment to make at this time, but thanks for all the kindness and well wishes.”

David has played a number of television roles during his career since 2000, including the likes of Holby City, Casualty and Eastenders.

The actor was handed a regular role on BBC Scotland’s River City as Rory Murdoch in 2006 before departing in 2009.

He later returned to the Scottish soap in November 2019.

David, who is gay, has been a vocal activist for LGBTQ+ rights throughout his career and has been outspoken in his support for the transgender community over social media.
