River and land search for 55-year-old man who did not come home from work

Police are searching a river and woodland for a missing 55-year-old from Carmarthenshire who has disappeared after failing to return home from work.

Michael O’Leary, from the village of Nantgaredig, between Carmarthen and Llandeilo, was reported missing on Monday night.

His vehicle was found in the Capel Dewi area, between Carmarthen and Nantgaredig. Emergency services, including fire crews, a police helicopter, mountain rescue teams and coastguard crews, all conducted a search of the area at around 11.30pm on Monday.

Rescue teams were searching a stretch of the River Towy and woodland, while a police helicopter was seen above Carmarthen and neighbouring villages.

Pictures from the scene show the scale of the operation, with fire engines and rescue boats all deployed to the area.
