Rivals 'make £13m bid' for Chelsea man linked with Nottingham Forest transfer

West Ham United have made a £13million bid for Nottingham Forest transfer target Emerson.

The Chelsea defender spent last season on loan at Lyon and made 35 appearances in all competitions before returning to Stamford Bridge this summer. Forest had reportedly "enquired" about the availability of the Brazilian last week following Alex Moreno's decision to remain at Real Betis.

However, Premier League rivals West Ham have made their move to sign the left-back from Chelsea. According to The Athletic, David Moyes' side have bid £13m for the 28-year-old.

The Hammers are seeking a new left-back following Arthur Masuaku's departure to Besiktas for the season. Emerson has struggled to nail down a starting spot at Stamford Bridge since signing from Roma in 2018, making only 54 starts.

Chelsea's signing of Marc Cucurella from Brighton has meant the Brazilian's future within Thomas Tuchel's side looks to be elsewhere. Therefore, Chelsea could be willing to sanction a deal for the full-back this summer.

Forest have already signed two left-backs this summer. Omar Richards and Harry Toffolo arrived from Bayern Munich and Huddersfield respectively after Max Lowe's loan move from Sheffield United came to an end.

The position is of high regard within Steve Cooper's 3-5-2 system, with Toffolo's performance against West Ham on Sunday playing a key role in Taiwo Awoniyi's winner.
