Rivaldo sends warning to Jurgen Klopp about rushing Alisson back against Man Utd

Rivaldo has warned Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp it might be too soon to rush Alisson back to face Manchester United this weekend.

The Liverpool shot-stopper suffered a calf injury against Norwich on the opening day of the season but has since returned to training.

He is in contention to start at Old Trafford on Sunday but Brazil legend Rivaldo worries Klopp is taking a risk with his compatriot.

"This is his first match in a few months and perhaps it could be a little risky to put him in to play in such a big match, but he is an experienced goalkeeper and he is certainly prepared to show his value if called upon," said Rivaldo.

"Every player loves to play in these kinds of matches.

"Of course, it would be better to have him fully match fit having played a few games already, but that's not the case, however his experience and quality should be enough to mask that lack of sharpness.

"He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world right now and he is used to this kind of big event, so I believe he won't have any problems with it and he will be as solid in Liverpool's goal as he always is."

Alisson trained at Melwood on Tuesday, completing a full session with the Liverpool squad, and doing enough to convince Klopp he is ready to return.

The Brazilian will replace summer signing Adrian between the sticks for United.
