Rivaldo agrees with Jurgen Klopp about Jose Mourinho's Tottenham

Brazil legend Rivaldo is in agreement with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp over Tottenham Hotspur.

It's been a good start to the season for Spurs, overall, Jose Mourinho's men within six points of Premier League leaders Manchester United despite going on a run of one win in just six league outings.

Tottenham are still part of the chasing pack, despite their loss of form of late, and according to former Barcelona and Brazil striker Rivaldo, Spurs are still 'serious contenders'.

"Manchester United are now top of the Premier League table after many bad seasons following Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement, and the team seems to be regrouping and trying to become a title contender once again," he told Betfair when discussing the title race.

"Now, they'll look to defend their lead at Anfield against Liverpool on Sunday and despite all matches in the Premier League being tough, this will be a major test for them that might confirm how strong they currently are.

"With a nice squad, who are playing better and better, of course a win at Anfield would be special and very important to galvanise Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team.

"The fact the Red Devils are about to visit Anfield without any fans could also be beneficial as it would be a totally different task facing Liverpool in a completely full stadium at the home of the champions.

"But it's still too early in the season and there are many clubs ready to fight for the title. Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham are serious contenders that won't want to give any presents to Man United."

Liverpool boss Klopp has previously seemingly agreed with that statement, tipping Tottenham to be in and around it come the end of the season, after his team defeated them in December.

He said: "They will be top of the table until the end of the season because they are really good. But to play against them is a proper challenge and to play like us, is pretty special."

Mourinho's men will be hoping to close the gap between them and the top of the table on Sunday when they take on Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
