Rival fans all say the same thing after Leeds United become subject for schoolchildren

Rival fans have been reacting on social media after children were told they can learn about Leeds United's history as part of their studies.

Youngsters who cannot go to school during the coronavirus outbreak have been told that they can learn about the club’s glory days while being taught at home.

United’s history is included in an online resource being shared with parents to help children continue to study at home, with the local council saying it is a valuable tool to help with home-learning.

Included on the slides, which are used predominantly by primary school teachers, are memorable moments in the club's history, such as manager Don Revie embracing captain Billy Bremner in the 1972 FA Cup victory.

"We hope this will give parents a place to go to help their children indulge their intellectual curiosity and find out more about history, heritage and the city where they live," councillor Judith Blake said on the move.

But as expected, rival fans have been quick to turn to social media and poke plenty of cheap jibes towards the club.

All schools in Yorkshire were told to close by the government as the coronavirus crisis depend.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson had previously declined to close schools despite saying people should avoid "non-essential contact" and urging people to work from home if they could.

But after coming under increasing pressure with a petition launched calling them to shut, the Prime Minister made the decision back in March to close all schools until further notice.
