Rita Ora's Dancing on Ice performance leaves fans baffled while others slam show for having her on

Dancing on Ice fans were left baffled on Sunday night when they recognised the sample used by Rita Ora for her controversial guest performance.

And it was none other than the song taken to number 1 nearly 16 years ago by the Crazy Frog!

Masked Singer judge Rita pre-recorded her appearance on the hit ITV show before heading out to Australia to judge The Voice and millions of viewers saw her joined by professional skaters to perform her new track Bang Bang.

It didn't take long for people at home to air their opinions of her being on Dancing on Ice and while some were quick to take aim at the show for even having her on after her much publicised birthday lockdown breach, others took to Twitter wondering why she chose to use crazy frog on her new single.

One fan tweeted: "As if @RitaOra has remixed the crazy frog in her new single..." and another reacted: "Okay so why has @RitaOra basically copied the melody of Crazy Frog for her new song, I can't take it serious."

The fact is that the sample - Axel F - was first used long before the Crazy Frog took it to number 1 in the summer of 2005.

It originally became an iconic piece of music for Harold Faltermeyer in the 80s after being the theme to Beverley Hills Cop, before then being taken back into the charts a decade later by dance duo Clock.

Older viewers were quick to pick up on the song's origins, with one posting: "People on about Rita Ora on #DancingOnIce... this is an age thing right here. You hear her song and you hear the Crazy Frog. I hear it and I hear Harold Faltermeyer."

While it was Rita's 'crazy frog' sample that got many people tweeting, others were angry she was on the show, given the fact she broke lockdown rules to throw a birthday party at a London restaurant at the end of November.

One ranted: "Okay. Firstly @ITV I don't agree with you giving people who literally break the law a platform.

"But more importantly has Rita Ora really done a crazy frog remix," and, in agreement another wrote: "Why was Rita Ora allowed to perform skynews suspended its law breakers. Where is the sanction. Covid law breakers who deliberately flout the laws should not be promoted on TV"
