Rita Ora apologises after flouting lockdown rules for secret 30th birthday bash

Rita Ora has issued a grovelling apology after the popstar was caught flouting lockdown restrictions for her 30th birthday party.

It was reported that the Poison singer invited more than 30 guests for the secret bash held at a swanky London restaurant on Saturday night.

A number of stars were spotted entering the party, which is said to have lasted into the early hours.

The event was held during strict coronavirus lockdown restrictions in England. People have been ordered to stay at home and not mix with other households while non-essential businesses remain closed.

Rita Ora has now described the event as an “inexcusable error of judgement” as the star apologised to fans on Instagram.

She wrote: “Hello all, I attended a small gathering with some friends to celebrate my 30th birthday. It was a spur of the moment decision made with the misguided view that we were coming out of lockdown and this would be OK.

“I’m deeply sorry for breaking the rules and in turn understand that this puts people at risk. This was a serious and inexcusable error of judgement.

"Given the restrictions, I realise how irresponsible these actions were and I take full responsibility.

“I feel particularly embarrassed knowing first-hand how hard people have worked to combat this terrible illness and being fully aware of the sacrifices that people and businesses have made to keep us all safe.

"Even though this won’t make it right, I want to sincerely apologise.”

Rita was also accused of breaking the rules during the last lockdown by moving to the Cotswolds, the Mirror reported.

The singer said she had been using her time in the pandemic to work on her third album and catch up on sleep.

"The studio is my safe haven. I’m very lucky to have space to create and make music in isolation," she explained at the time.

The popstar’s weekend breach of the rules has sparked fury among celebs and fans alike.

Scots ITV star Lorraine Kelly was among those calling for her to “behave” during a brief rant on Good Morning Britain earlier today.
