'Risk' - Chris Hughton makes revelation about Nottingham Forest striker Lewis Grabban

Boss Chris Hughton says a hip injury led to striker Lewis Grabban’s substitution at half-time of Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 draw with Derby County.

The Reds boss had started with a 4-4-2 formation against the Rams, playing Grabban up front with Lyle Taylor.

It was a frustrating first 45 minutes for the hosts, though, as they fell behind to Martyn Waghorn’s free-kick and struggled to offer much by way of creativity.

Hughton tweaked the system after the break, bringing Anthony Knockaert on for Grabban - and was rewarded with an equaliser when Lyle Taylor finished off a corner from the substitute with 64 minutes gone.

“He just felt his hip. It was a little bit sore,” Hughton said of Grabban.

“We could have taken a risk, but I think it was the right decision.

“I think in some ways it might have helped.

“We went two up top in the first half, hoping that would work. But the way they defended as a team made it difficult for us to get the right service to the front two.

“But the game opened up in the second half and gave us more options. And we played better in the second half.”
