Job title: Consultant

Marie-Alix Prat joined Trémolet Consulting in September 2012, having just completed an MSc in Development Management at the London School of Economics.
On her first day, she was catapulted into the Stockholm World Water Week, which gathers world experts on water management every year. Having researched for her MSc dissertation on how the health sector tracks where money comes from and where it goes, she made an instant contribution to the development of a radical new way of tracking financing into the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene sector (WASH).
She built on Trémolet Consulting’s earlier efforts to launch this initiative, referred to as TrackFin, for the World Health Organisation (WHO) through its GLAAS report and other international partners.
This was crucially needed to understand how much money is spent on essential WASH services and how it is spent, to make a case for boosting lagging investment in a sector so critical for human and economic development.
Marie-Alix brought her great attention to detail, perseverance and kindness to the drafting of a guidance document that helped countries go through the process of piecing together a picture of their WASH spending. She worked tirelessly in Brazil, Morocco and Ghana to support local consultants apply the methodology. Scale-up of the initiative is now being considered under WHO leadership, with likely support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation or the Department for International Development (DFID).
Nominated by Sophie Trémolet, director of Trémolet Consulting.
