Name: Jamie Keeble
Business: Heck Food
Job title: Co-founder
Website: heckfood.co.uk
The Keeble family started a business in Britain’s notoriously congested food market and have grown it into a major player with more than £3m turnover in its first year of business. Son Jamie, 24, is a leading light in the new venture.
Jamie and his two younger siblings are at the helm and their aim is to get a younger audience back into eating sausages following the damaging horsemeat scandal. Through their combination of quirky branding, high-welfare meat and ‘what the heck’ attitude, they are already well on their way to achieving this.
Having helped his parents bag a deal to get their sausages onto Tesco’s shelves, Jamie also manages the busy show circuit, travelling thousands of miles each year to sample and sell sausages. He is also a regular at supermarket headquarters, meeting buyers and promoting new recipes.
Known for his novel ideas, he’s also behind the company’s cheeky name change to ‘Feck’ for St Patrick’s Day, a square BBQ sausage and a lower-fat chicken recipe, which has been a hit with slimming groups. He’s now working on a recipe for Valentine’s Day.
Jamie recently survived the scrutiny of Alex Polizzi on BBC’s The Fixer. Despite criticism, he has used the experience to grow his role in the business, improve efficiency and sales and increase supermarket listings, and his fighting spirit is paying off.
