Rising concern for missing 10yo boy from Townsville

Police in north Queensland hold serious concerns for the welfare of a 10-year-old boy missing from the Townsville suburb of Heatley since yesterday afternoon.

Emmanuel Muwombamungo, a student of Aitkenvale State School, was last seen at a Bainbridge Street house about a kilometre from the school, shortly after 3:00pm.

It is understood he left the house on foot.

Police said they believed Emmanuel might be riding a pink bicycle and could also be wearing his school uniform, which is blue and black.

Senior Sergeant Joe Matherson is urging anyone who may have information to come forward.

"Police and his family are concerned for his welfare given his young age," he said.

"We hope that he has stayed over with friends for the night but we still have concerns for his safety and welfare given that this is totally out of character for this young boy."

Emmanuel is described as being of African appearance, approximately 120 centimetres tall and slim with brown eyes.
