Rising Chelsea striker rejects new deal to join Bundesliga side despite interest from Bristol City, Southampton and Fulham

Bristol City look set to miss out on Martell Taylor-Crossdale.

The Robins were linked to the 19-year-old Chelsea striker earlier this month, along with Southampton and Fulham.

City are keen on a striker this summer and, whilst it was unlikely that Taylor-Crossdale was a target for the Robins' first team, his scoring record at youth level suggests a player with a lot of potential.

He is out of contract at the Blues this summer but Sky Sports report that they offered him a new deal.

Yet Taylor-Crossdale, a member of the England under-18 team that won the 2017 Toulon Tournament, has turned it down, and is now set to head to Germany for a medical ahead of joining Bundesliga club Hoffenheim.

Wasteful Diedhiou, careless Palmer and why Bristol City are an excellent long-ball team - numbers behind the 2018/19 season

The striker is one of a number of young English players to move to Germany in recent times, with Jadon Sancho excelling for Borussia Dortmund and West Ham's Reece Oxford linked with a permanent move to Augsburg.

At just 19, it is unlikely that this will be an immediate blow for the Robins, but it will be interesting to watch Martell-Crossdale's development in Germany.
