Rising 2FM star Tara Stewart launches Knitting & Stitching Show

Rising 2FM star Tara Stewart stepped out to launch the Knitting & Stiching Show at the RDS, Dublin.

The Ozzie native who relocated to Ireland in 2011 to pursue her broadcasting dream

is against fast fashion and praised Ireland as a nation of knitters.

Tara, 29, told the Irish Mirror: “I couldn’t believe that 12,000 people go, knitting is a big industry in Ireland.

“I knitted a scarf once that I wished I still kept.

The presenter who hails from Alice Springs is big into upcycling her clothes adding: “I love customising my outfits.

“It’s only a positive that we’re stepping away from fast fashion.

“I don’t agree with it anymore, I’ve got a podcast coming out with RTE called Dirty Laundry out in November on RTE.

“It’s about sustainable fashion and Roz Purcell is on an episode too, coming from an influencer point of view.

“SInce discovering what Fast Fashion does to the planet I won’t buy a lot of high street clothes anymore.

“It’s something I’m very passionate about it.

“The reason stuff is so cheap is because people in the factories making the clothes aren’t being paid fairly or being treated well.”

The Knitting & Stitching Show returns to the RDS, Dublin this November for its 26th year running, with 150 exhibitors and 192 workshops.

Last year’s show saw over 12,000 visitors attended the event over the course of the weekend and it is set to be just as popular this year taking place from Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th November.
