Rishi Sunak's spring statement - tell us what you think of the Chancellor's plans for business and fuel costs

Chancellor Rishi Sunak today announced his plans to help people and businesses with the cost of living crisis - but many in business say he did not go far enough.

The Chancellor on Wednesday announced measures including a cut in fuel duty and interest rates, as well as raising the employment allowance for small businesses and removing VAT on heat pumps and solar panels.

In the North, mayors warned the Chancellor's decisions would not help with levelling up and closing the North-South divide.

East Midlands Chamber of Commerce chief executive Scott Knowles said the statement was a "missed opportunity ". He said: "With many of the pressures being international in their nature, the Chancellor only had a few levers to pull. However, ultimately, there were no game-changers that will pull us away from the cost of living – and equally a cost of doing business – crisis that is happening right now.”

Meanwhile Tim Jones, chairman of the South West Business Council, said: “This is a Budget for tomorrow when the crisis is today."
