'Rishi Sunak has sunk Brits' living standards like a P&O owner sacking galley slaves'

With the insensitivity of a P&O owner sacking galley slaves, Rishi Sunak's sunk the living standards of British families.

Cometh the hour, cometh the blinkered out of touch Chancellor failing to rise to the challenge.

He's fiddled while household budgets are burning from searing inflation averaging 7.4% that'll deliver the worst cut in living standards for more than half a century.

Back to the 1950s may prove Sunak's prospects of succeeding Boris Johnson are hitting the rocks.

Taking more money out of people's pay packets and bank accounts when prices are rocketing is the Tory Treasury pouring petrol on the cost of living crisis.

This Chancellor remains a record tax raiser, upping the National Insurance threshold giving back only a little of the extra £14-billion to be grabbed.

Reducing fuel duty 5p might never be felt at the pumps and is a fraction of an increase in the price of a litre since topping 20p since the start of the year.

And that promise of a 1p Income Tax cut in two years is an election bribe suggesting a contest in Autumn 2023 or Spring 2024.

It deserves to be greeted with the same suspicion generated by P&O claims the ferry firm obeys the law.

The 2019 Conservative Manifesto promised NI wouldn't go up (it is), the pension triple-lock would continue( it hasn't) and international aid was protected (it wasn't).

The penny off tax also exposes the Tory lie the NI jump is a hypothecated health and social care levy when the switch emphasises it's really another tax rise but a little will be returned.

Sunak, Johnson and Conservative ideology are the main problem.

Not Covid last year, Ukraine this year or next year presumably a big boy with a stick who ran away.

The Tories are proving politically, practically and ideologically incapable of helping keep families afloat. Never mind prosper.
