Rishi Sunak has faced off against Sir Keir Starmer at Prime Minister’s Questions in his first Commons outing as leader, after the Government confirmed that the much-awaited fiscal statement will be delayed.
The Labour leader welcomed Mr Sunak, saying it was a “significant moment in our national story” that he was the first Prime Minister of South Asian descent.
But he went on the attack on the subject of Mr Sunak’s first Cabinet, asking the PM: “Was his Home Secretary right to resign last week for a breach of security?”
Mr Sunak replied: “The Home Secretary made an error of judgment but she recognised that, she raised the matter and she accepted her mistake.
