Riot police race to ongoing incident in Cardonald as man seen 'throwing glass' from high-rise flat window

Riot cops swooped on a Glasgow street this afternoon amid reports of an ongoing incident.

A man is understood be hurling glass and other items from a high-rise flat window.

Witnesses reported up to 20 officers surrounding Queensland Gardens, Cardonald.

Multiple police cars and ambulances were seen heading to the flats with nearby Queensland Drive cordoned off.

One local took to social media to say: "All Kicking off in Cardonald round the corner from me at the high flats around 20 police cars and vans and armed police absolutely mental."

Meanwhile another said a man was 'throwing things out a window'.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "A report was received of a disturbance at a property on Queensland Court in the Cardonald area Glasgow around 1.45pm on Sunday, 9 August.

"Emergency services remain in attendance. The incident is contained to a single property and there is no risk to the wider community."
