Riot cops lock down Ayrshire street after report of man with blade

Riot police were called to reports of a man with a blade during an Easter Sunday disturbance in an Ayrshire street.

Police Scotland said a 31-year-old man was arrested after being traced to a property on Herbertson Crescent in Irvine just before 11am.

We told earlier of the dramatic moment police in riot gear took up position outside a house, sealing off the street with an army of 16 emergency vehicles.

Police Scotland said a man is now expected to appear in court on Monday in connection with the incident.

A statement said: "We received a report of a man in possession of a bladed weapon on Herbertson Crescent, Irvine, around 10.50am on Sunday.
