Rio Ferdinand has urged Manchester United to sign Jadon Sancho and warned rival clubs that it would be "over" for them if the Borussia Dortmund star links up with Marcus Rashford.
Sancho has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and Standard Sport understands he remains in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans, but with his £100million asking price needing to be reduced for a deal to be clinched amid doubts within United's corridors of power over fees as high as £60m during the next transfer window.
While clubs are expected to be heavily impacted financially by the coronavirus pandemic, Ferdinand believes United's structure will give them the upper hand on their rivals in the market.
And the ex-United defender has advised his former club to sign Sancho to partner Rashford in attack, explaining how it would make it difficult for other teams to cope with their sheer pace.
"Financially Man United are in a stronger position than most, because of the way that the club is structured,’ Ferdinand told The Beautiful Game Podcast.
"I’d definitely buy Sancho. Could you imagine Sancho in that team with him drawing like two or three players to him and then Rashford is playing one-v-one? Oh God. It’s over."
Rashford has enjoyed his best goalscoring campaign in 2019-20, with 14 top-flight efforts and 18 across all competitions.
The 22-year-old has not played for the Red Devils since January due to a back issue, but Ferdinand believes Rashford is "100 per cent" capable of mixing it with the best players in the world.
"Rashford could be up there with the best, 100 per cent, because he’s just got mad talent," he added.
"From a kid I’ve seen him play, whether it was up front, or wide or drifting about, he’s always had mad talent and at Man United, within the corridors, they have always known."
