Manchester United vs Leeds United is the clash fans on both sides of the Pennines have been waiting for and it seems even Rio Ferdinand can't hold his excitement ahead of the game.
The meeting between two of the English game's storied sides has naturally brought with it plenty of nostalgia pieces. From looks back at the days when both teams were fighting for the title to all of the connections the clubs have had down the years, there is has been plenty to go at.
Ferdinand, of course, is a key part of the history between the two teams following his British record transfer switch at the time when he left Leeds to join the Red Devils in 2002.
The former defender was worth £18million in 2000 when he signed for Leeds from West Ham, with his value souring to £30million by the time Sir Alex Ferguson came calling two years later.
Ferdinand was the captain of Leeds at the time so naturally his decision to leave for the club's arch-rivals didn't go down well with fans in West Yorkshire.
It seems that Ferdinand is still irked somewhat by this reaction, with the former England star posting a playful tweet this morning with a picture of a Leeds fan holding up a banner asking: "Rio Who?"
Ferdinand tweeted: "The cheek of it... “Rio Who” ya know! And I was your captain lil man. @LUFC to @ManUtd. British Transfer Record: £30mill."
It's safe to say this tweet has stoked the fires ahead of match which Leeds will be backing themselves to win. The Reds are just six points clear of Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds but the Whites have just turned a corner after a rough run with an impressive 5-2 win over Newcastle.
