Rio Ferdinand steals the show at Salt Bae's first UK restaurant - and comes away with a branded baby bib

Rio and Kate Ferdinand have become the latest celebs to visit Salt Bae's first UK restaurant, with Rio stealing the show from the man himself.

The former Manchester United star visited the new London restaurant Nusr-Et Steakhouse with his family on Sunday.

While dining on the menu of £630 steaks and £100 burgers, the group were greeted at their table by 'Salt Bae' - or chef Nusret Gökçe - himself.

The chef and restaurant owner shot to fame in 2017 when a video of him seasoning steak by theatrically dropping salt from a height, bouncing off his elbow, went viral.

And last night, it was Rio himself who was tasked with recreating the viral moment, captured on the restaurant's Instagram stories.

After slicing up the giant tomahawk steak with a huge curved knife, Salt Bae turned to the television pundit with a bowl of salt and said: "Come on, man. No, stand up."

In the video, Rio grabs a handful of the salt and drops it over the meat in a perfect recreation of the viral moment.

Gökçe leans in afterwards and mutters: "Wow."

Rio's wife Kate also shared the moment their baby Cree was presented with his very own Salt Bae-branded bib.

It's not the first time the trio have met - Gökçe also catered their pre-wedding brunch back in 2019.

The restaurant has caused quite a stir since it opened last week, fuelled by a photo of a receipt for a meal costing £1,812.40 that has gone viral.

People have called the prices 'absolutely ridiculous' and a 'rip off'.
