Rio Ferdinand believes Saul Niguez would be a 'perfect fit' for Manchester United and has backed his former side to make a move for the Atletico Madrid midfielder.
It remains to be seen whether the 26-year-old will remain in the Spanish capital, having been continuously linked with a move to the Premier League this summer.
Liverpool are among the teams rumoured to be considering a deal for Saul, who helped Atletico to the La Liga title last season.

Jurgen Klopp's side are yet to make a move for the Spain international and Ferdinand has urged United to take action in the transfer market.
“I think if the right player becomes available for the right price, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will go and get him,” Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel.
“The problem is – who is out there and who could be a good fit?
“Saul Niguez would be a perfect fit and his asking price was £160million a couple of years ago, now it’s more like £40-50million.
“In today’s game that’s a decent price for someone like him who has Champions League experience.
“I’m a big fan of his. If you can get him in this window, I think you do it.”
The agent of Saul, Jonathan Barnett, did little to play down transfer speculation when speaking to Spanish publication AS last month.
Barnett confirmed that 'nothing has been decided' as he explained the current stance on the situation.
“Nothing has been decided, Saul has as many options to stay as to leave,” he said.
“Saul will do with his future what is best for Saul.”
