Former centre-back Rio Ferdinand has welcomed Ralf Rangnick to Manchester United following confirmation that he has been appointed as the club's new interim manager.
The German, who has been poached from Russian heavyweights Lokomotiv Moscow, has signed a six-month contract at Old Trafford and will oversee first-team matters until the end of the season.
Rangnick, who faces an anxious wait to see if he will he able to take charge of Thursday evening's clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford, with the German waiting on all of the formalities concerning his work visa to be concluded, will then move into a consultancy role, with United confirming that he will be in that position for two years.
The 63-year-old will bring a wealth of experience and footballing knowledge to the club in a variety of ways, with him having experienced working both at pitch-level and in the boardroom in the past.
Rangnick, in his opening statement as United boss, has pledged to get United playing as a team, something that has, seemingly, been a missing link this season.
And it is that statement that has attracted attention from former United defender Ferdinand, who has welcomed the German to the club.
On Twitter, Ferdinand, initially quoting Rangnick, said: "'All my efforts for the next six months will be on helping these players fulfil their potential, both individually and, MOST importantly, as a TEAM.'
"Welcome Ralf Rangnick."
Seemingly, Rangnick's opening admission as United manager has gone down well with Ferdinand, leaving him impressed.
United, certainly recently, have been criticised for looking more like a team of individuals, opposed to a collective unit.
Now, with Rangnick looking to try and change United's approach and outlook, it seems like he is trying to get away from that mantra and turn the Reds back into a proper team.
United have confirmed, meanwhile, that Michael Carrick will remain in charge of all first-team responsibilities until Rangnick's visa is sorted out.
