Rio Ferdinand sends message to Chelsea fans who left Champions League classic with Ajax early

Former Manchester United and England defender has issued a message to the Chelsea supporters who left the Champions League clash with Ajax early.

The Blues played out a thrilling 4-4 draw with the Eredivisie champions, in a match that witnessed eight goals, two penalties, two red cards and two disallowed goals for Frank Lampard's side.

In a classic tie that had everything, Chelsea fought their way back from 4-1 down to secure a point in their fourth match of the Champions League group stage in a game that will live long in the memory.

However, some supporters missed the drama as they left Stamford Bridge prematurely after seeing their side fall three goals behind in the second half.

That decision was slammed by Ferdinand , who explained that the attitude around the Chelsea stadium at the moment shows that you should always keep faith in Lampard 's young side.

“You can’t walk out. The spirit that is within this stadium at the moment, the way that the players have responded to Frank and the management team, you can’t come out of this stadium, even at 4-1 down,” he told BT Sport.

“They’re fortunate with the two sending offs maybe but when they got them, they took the bull by the horns and the game was taken away from Ajax.”

Chelsea are currently tied at the top of Group H with seven points alongside both Ajax and Valencia, with the Blues facing upcoming fixtures against the Spaniards and French outfit Lille.
