Rio Ferdinand sends Manchester United warning after West Ham's Chelsea win

Rio Ferdinand insists that West Ham are punching with the biggest teams as they claimed another massive win at home beating Chelsea.

The league leaders fell to the sword after goals from Manuel Lanzini, Jarrod Bowen and Arthur Masuaku dented their title hopes with David Moyes' side beating a second title-chaser in under a month after they overcame Liverpool.

Manchester United have already visited the London Stadium this season and left with all three points after Jesse Lingard's late winner. Mark Noble came on as a late substitute to take a penalty but was left redfaced as David de Gea saved his spot-kick in stoppage time.

However, the Hammers did knock the Reds out of the Carabao Cup after Lanzini's first-half strike.

The gap between Moyes' side and United moves to six points with the Reds kicking off on Sunday.

And the former Reds defender believes West Ham have the momentum going into the second half of the season.

"I think the squad's going to play a big part, you mentioned injuries there and it's how they deal with that, that's the big factor. If Antonio got injured as well, in terms of a striker they're probably short in that area," Ferdinand told BT Sport.

"You have to look at the teams they're beating this year; Leicester City, Man City, Man United, Liverpool, Spurs and Chelsea in all competitions. They're punching with the biggest teams in the league so they'll want to continue that.

"I always talk about momentum whether you're near the bottom or near the top, West Ham are near the top and they continue their momentum that they're on they're a match for everybody especially when they're here and this stadium is rocking like it was today.

"I've never felt this for ages, you come here [London Stadium] and go 'wow', it's a place you thought had energy sucked out, is it capable of having an atmosphere well they've showed us this season I'm sure but today there is."
