Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester City star Phil Foden is the best young player in world football at the moment.
Foden starred in City 's 2-0 second-leg victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final to help his boyhood club progress to the final in Istanbul.
The 20-year-old has been in superb form recently and has become a staple in Pep Guardiola 's record-breaking team.
The City midfielder provided a tremendous assist for Riyad Mahrez 's second goal of the night in front of a virtually empty Etihad Stadium, driving a low cross to the far post, where his teammate fired home.
Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe have also both been in fantastic form this season, but Ferdinand thinks Foden pips them both at this current moment.
Speaking to BT Sport, the former Manchester United defender said: “It’s about execution at the final stage and he’s got that in the bag.
"He has shown tonight that he can produce on this level and be consistent with his end product.
"That’s why he’s playing in this team and that’s why at the moment, I would say Phil Foden is the best young player, on form, in the world right now.
"On form, I think he is, whether he’s the best player outright. Mbappe didn’t play today and Haaland is yet to play at this level.
"I’m not saying Foden is the best player, but at this moment right now, he’s the most in form.”
Foden's assist against PSG was his 10th of the season in all competitions for Man City.
