BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand described Tottenham Hotspur's performance as "clueless," following their 3-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the second-leg of the UEFA Champions League last-16 tie.
Trailing 1-0 from the first-leg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium three weeks ago, Spurs went to Germany with the hope that they could replicate the same sort of comeback as they produced against Ajax at the semi-final stage last season.
But Tottenham were completely out fought and well beaten by Leipzig, who were 2-0 up on the night before half time, with skipper Marcel Sabitzer netting a first half brace.
The result stretched Spurs' winless run in all competitions to six matches, meaning the pressure is seriously mounting on both Jose Mourinho and his players.
And Ferdinand, who was analysing the game for BT Sport, most certainly did not pull any punches in his immediate post-match assessment, as he heavily criticised their showing.
"That was a drab, clueless performance from the Spurs team," Ferdinand told BT Sport. "Yes, it is a depleted Spurs team and squad at the moment through injuries, but they have got to show better than what they have done.
"They look like a team lacking in confidence."
Following the defeat to Leipzig, Spurs' hopes of securing Champions League football for next season now completely rest on their hopes of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Currently, Spurs are seven points off Chelsea in fourth, meaning they face an uphill task to gain European football for next season.
