Rio Ferdinand reveals mood in Manchester United dressing room after Paul Pogba chat

Rio Ferdinand says that the Manchester United dressing room is feeling confident after interviewing Paul Pogba this week.

The former United defender spoke to the midfielder on behalf of BT Sport after a fantastic run of form for the Frenchman, which has seen him reestablish himself as a first-team regular.

Pogba scored match-winning goals in recent games against Burnley and Fulham, helping to ease the burden on Bruno Fernandes in midfield, much to the delight of United supporters.

With plenty of competition for places, Pogba's return to form has only strengthened United's chances of winning the Premier League, with vital matches to come against Arsenal and Southampton in the coming days.

United are currently jostling with Manchester City for top spot, with Pep Guardiola's side moving ahead of them with an emphatic 5-0 win over West Brom on Tuesday night.

Having spoken to Pogba, Ferdinand was asked about the mood in the United camp and he insisted the club remain confident they can continue to compete at the top of the table.

“There’s an undoubted confidence running through the club at the moment and it’s obvious why with the gap they’ve closed to Liverpool and now gone beyond them with the points they’ve got this season," Ferdinand told BT Sport.

"Top of the league last week, Man City have now asked if they can match us and that’s how it’s going to be for the rest of the season. Cat and mouse, changing roles at the top of the league, with third place or whoever it is coming into the mix.

"That’s what it’s about now, use the experience in the squad to try and get over the line.”
