Rio Ferdinand responds to James Garner goal as on-loan Manchester United ace answers cheeky question

James Garner capped another excellent display for Nottingham Forest with a superb goal, direct from a free-kick, against QPR.

The Manchester United loanee scored from out near the corner flag on the left, with the ball dipping viciously over the dive of keeper Seny Dieng. Forest won the game 3-1 to move another step closer to Championship safety.

The nature of the goal prompted questions of whether he meant it, or was it an intended crossed which fortuitously found its way into the net?

That question was put to Garner by one of his former Old Trafford pals, Angel Gomes, who replied to a video of the goal on Twitter.

“Bout time @jgarner96," joked Gomes, who is at loan at Boavista from Lille, accompanied with laughing emojis.

Gomes added: “did u mean it though bro?"

Garner replied: "Course I did bro” with a love heart and hand shake emoji.

The goal also impressed BT Sport pundit and former Man United defender Rio Ferdinand, who replied with a fire emoji.
