Rio Ferdinand posts cryptic tweet with Cristiano Ronaldo set for transfer to Man City

Rio Ferdinand posted a cryptic tweet as Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to join Manchester City.

Multiple reports indicate that the 36-year-old has agreed personal terms with Pep Guardiola's side as his return to the Premier League appears imminent.

City are expected to table an official offer on Friday as the Serie A side want £28million for the former Real Madrid star.

It's believed that Ronaldo turned up to Juventus ' training session this morning to say farewell to his teammates as he left the complex after just 40 minutes.

The move to the blue side of Manchester is viewed as controversial given Ronaldo's affiliation with Manchester United as he spent six impressive years at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson.

And his former teammate Ferdinand seemed to be referring to the news as he shared a cryptic post on Twitter.

He tweeted a gif of actor Leonardo DiCaprio laughing in one of his renowned films Django Unchained.

Ronaldo has previously made it clear that he wouldn't move to Manchester City for the money.

He was asked back in 2015 if he would ever join City due to their riches or would his loyalty to Manchester United rule out that possibility.

The former Real Madrid man replied: "You think the money is going to change my mind at 30 years old? I don't think, I don't think this going to be a problem.

"If you speak about the money I could go to Qatar, they would probably have more money than Manchester City.

"It's not about the money, it's about the passion."

City are looking to engineer a swap deal for Ronaldo as the same five players who were offered to Tottenham for Harry Kane appear to be up for grabs.

Raheem Sterling, Aymeric Laporte, Bernardo Silva, Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez could move in the other direction in a part-exchange, but Juve would rather a cash-only deal.
