Rio Ferdinand points out Jose Mourinho trend amid Tottenham's current issues

Rio Ferdinand says he sees parallels between Jose Mourinho's current situation at Tottenham and the end of his spell at other clubs he has been in charge of.

The pressure appears to be mounting on the Portuguese manager amid Tottenham's dreadful run of form, which has seen them lost five of their last six Premier League games.

Mourinho has been sacked from his last two clubs - Manchester United and Chelsea.

And speaking on his podcast, Ferdinand says he can see similarities with the way things are going at Spurs and the manner in which it finished for Mourinho at both Stamford Bridge and Old Trafford.

"Listen, if you look at his recent history of the way it’s ended for him at clubs, this is very similar to what we’ve seen before," he said.

"Results aren’t going to plan, there’s some disgruntled players, he’s prickly in the press.

"All of the common things that we’ve seen in recent jobs and how it’s finished, it’s rearing its head again.

"It doesn’t look great, but if he can have some turnaround in results, maybe things can be different."

Despite the speculation over his position, Mourinho insisted he was not feeling the strain ahead of his side's Europa League game against Wolfsberger on Wednesday.

"I want to know which coach has always had blue sky and never cloudy or a bit dark," he said.

"Perhaps only a coach who is always at a dominant club in a league. It shows how beautiful my career has been. Does it make me depressed? No. It's a challenge.

"I work for the club, the players and the supporters. I always feel I have to give them so much. It hurts me and it's a great challenge for me and I believe I can give it. I give it everywhere I've been and I'm more motivated than ever."
