Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand has explained why Alvaro Morata is making a bigger impact for Atletico Madrid than he did at Chelsea.
Morata is on loan at Atletico until the end of the season when he is expected to sign a permanent deal with the Spanish side.
The striker endured a rough time at Chelsea following his arrival from Real Madrid in 2017.
The 27-year-old struggled to find consistency at Stamford Bridge before going out on loan to Atletico.
He scored six goals in all competitions for Diego Simeone's men last season and has eight in La Liga this term.
Most importantly, the forward sealed Atletico's 4-2 aggregate win over Liverpool in the last 16 of the Champions League on Wednesday by smashing home the final game of the contest.
Ferdinand was on punditry duties for BT Sport during the encounter and touched on the difference he has seen in Morata from his time in the Premier League.
The United great said after the match: “Even this emotion, he wasn’t showing that at Chelsea. It seems like it means a bit more to him.
"It’s a great result, so emotions are running high, but he’s maybe showing that towards England, that is his answer to England after the spell that he had here.”
