Rio Ferdinand has praised Arsenal for bullying his former club Manchester United in the first win of the Mikel Arteta.
The retired Premier League winner also hailed the atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium as the Gunners pushed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side to breaking point.
Goals from Nicolas Pepe and Sokratis Papastathopoulos saw the Gunners take the visitors apart to the delight of supporters who had been waiting to see their new head coach secure three points.
Draws with Everton and Bournemouth were followed by a home defeat to Chelsea prior to the visit of United, but their poor run of results did not show in the attitude Arsenal showed in how they set about United according to Ferdinand.
"Look at the crowd joining in," he said in his post-match analysis for BT Sport, highlighting how active Arteta had been on the touchline.
"The intensity from the manager, whipping the crowd up," he added. "This place is renowned as somewhere that's quite quiet at times.
"They aren't being taken off their seats by a bit of skill or goals it's actually by closing down."
Ferdinand was most impressed by how Arsenal overpowered their opponents at the Emirates.
It was a marked contrast to how fixtures between the two clubs used to play out, especially during Sir Alex Ferguson's duels with Arsene Wenger across the technical areas of the Premier League.
"They bullied Man United today," he said. "That is the thing that disappointed me most about Manchester United today, they got bullied.
"We used to come here and bully Arsenal. That was one of our main intentions to come here and get in their faces and they reserved that here today against Manchester United."
Arsenal's next match comes against Leeds United in the FA Cup after the recall of Eddie Nketiah from the Championship club.
