Rio Ferdinand names 3 things he loves about Liverpool ahead of Barcelona clash

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand understandably isn't Liverpool's biggest fan.

He was at the centre of the huge rivalry between the two clubs for the majority of his career as one of the top centre-backs in world football.

But even he can't help but admire what Jurgen Klopp has achieved at Anfield, transforming them into genuine Premier League title contenders.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool's Champions League semi-final first leg against Barcelona , Ferdinand hailed Klopp's ability to get the best out of his players.

And he pinpointed three key characteristics he believes set them aside from their rivals.

“I think he’s done an amazing job," Ferdinand told BT Sport.

“What I loved about that interview is the three things he mentioned when he spoke about the centre forwards.

Jurgen Klopp reveals what Liverpool medical team said about Roberto Firmino

“What I love about them is their desire, their attitude, their character.

“They are three things that are lost on a lot of players in current football sometimes.

“You need those ingredients there, accumulated together, to make top, top players who perform.”

Barcelona 'one step away' from signing Liverpool star before Anfield move

Reds front three Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah fired the Reds to the Champions League final last season.

The addition of defensive reinforcements in the form of Virgil van Dijk and goalkeeper Alisson have helped convert Klopp's side into Premier League challengers as their race with Manchester City goes down to the wire.

Klopp opted to leave Firmino on the bench for their Nou Camp first leg as he continues to recover from a muscle problem suffered in training last week.
