Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has said rumoured Liverpool transfer target Thiago Alcantara would be a 'dream signing' for the Reds.
The Spanish midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks.
Reports have claimed Thiago, who was in action for Bayern Munich on Saturday evening as they defeated Chelsea 4-1 in the Champions League last 16, is keen on a Premier League switch.
Speaking after the 29-year-old's second leg performance against Frank Lampard's outfit, Ferdinand explained why he thinks Thiago would be perfect for Jurgen Klopp's side.
He told BT Sport, as quoted by Metro: "Great signing. He is a conductor, somebody who controls the tempo of the game, he’s got a wing mirror so he can see behind him, can see all angles, play every pass in the game.
"Intelligent player, he speaks the language which is an important part of it as well. He’d be a dream to have for someone like Liverpool. He’s the type of player they probably haven’t got.
"Does he walk into Liverpool’s team? They are a formidable team, you take someone out and you’re going to lose something, does he give you much more?
"He gives you something different."
Bayern will now meet Barcelona in the quarter final stage of the competition with both sides vying for what would be a sixth Champions League title.
