Rio Ferdinand has backed Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner to improve Chelsea.
The duo are the only two signings Chelsea have made so far this summer as the Blues stole a march on rival clubs by agreeing deals to bring them to Stamford Bridge whilst the 2019/20 season was still ongoing.
Yet defeats to Arsenal in the FA Cup final and Bayern Munich in the Champions League have highlighted the need for Chelsea to strengthen more, something that Frank Lampard himself hinted at after the 4-1 defeat in Munich.
Whilst Ferdinand agreed with Lampard over the need for Chelsea to strengthen further, pointing to the defence in particular, he said he had been impressed with the Blues' transfer business so far this summer.
Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand said that Ziyech and Werner have both shown enough in the Champions League for Ajax and RB Leipzig respectively to demonstrate that they can be successes at Stamford Bridge.
He said: "We watched Ziyech last season for Ajax, he was magnificent.
"He reminds me a little bit of Mahrez but he crosses the ball a little bit more.
"He's someone who's really always trying to find a way to unlock defences with his delivery. A lot of guile.
"Timo Werner, his movement and his finishing is phenomenal, we saw what he was like against Spurs in London.
"So that's two talented players who'll definitely improve them."
Both players were unavailable to feature for the Blues in Bayern Munich, yet have now started training with their new club.
They are both set to be available when the new season starts in September.
