Rio Ferdinand makes Amad Diallo prediction at Manchester United

Rio Ferdinand believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping for an immediate impact from Amad Diallo at Manchester United.

The 18-year-old winger officially joined United earlier this month after receiving a work permit following an agreement with Italian side Atalanta last summer.

Diallo has gone straight into first-team training at Carrington but a debut against Fulham this week seems unlikely, with the club understanding he will need time to settle in England first.

Ferdinand does not expect United to make any more signings this month but he believes Diallo could be given a chance if he impresses the manager in training.

"I don't think he'll bring anyone in," Ferdinand told the Stretford Paddock when quizzed on United's transfer plans. "He is hoping that Diallo from Atalanta will come in and set the world alight in training - so he gives him some food for thought.

"Listen, it is alright saying we want someone but who is selling in this market right now? I don't see many teams who are willing to sell players right now unless you're going to break the bank and pay monstrous fees. I don't think Man United want to be doing that right now.

"I think Man United will leave this window alone. I'd be very surprised if they go in again."
