Ferdinand thinks Gunners should build club around Saka

Former Manchester United and England defender believes Arsenal should “build the club around” Bukayo Saka.

Saka signed a contract extension at the Emirates Stadium last week after months of speculation over his future, and Ferdinand reckons the Gunners should shape their club around the teenager.

“I think Arsenal need people with the right attitude, right characters and people that want to be at the club,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.

“Looking at his statement, he buys into the philosophy, and he wants to move forward with the club. I would build the club around him, around players like Willock. The badge means something to these boys. They need to move forward together.”

Ceballos’ passion shows

Arsenal’s on-loan midfielder Dani Ceballos showed another example of his passion for the club after celebrating Alexandre Lacazette’s goal in Saturday’s win over Wolves.

Lacazette scored his first away goal in the league since February 2019 and it clinched the three points for the Gunners at Molineux.

Ceballos was seen, and heard, by football.london, sprinting onto the pitch to celebrate and also screamed “yes”.

The Real Madrid midfielder’s future with Arsenal is still unclear as it stands, but Gunners fans will be hoping this clear passion will persuade him to stay put in north London.

Maitland-Niles’ brilliant cameo

Arsenal defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles was a second-half substitute for the Gunners in their 2-0 victory at Wolves and certainly caught the eye.

Maitland-Niles came on for Kieran Tierney, and was up against one of the Premier League’s most dangerous wingers in Adama Traore.

However, Arsenal fans noticed that Traore was “pocketed” by the make-shift left-back, with the Spanish winger having rare success. Read the full story here.
