Kyle Walker's second-half red card came out of frustration over a poor individual performance according to former Manchester United Rio Ferdinand.
Walker was shown a straight red eight minutes from time after kicking out at a RB Leipzig player on the attack.
The sending off capped off a poor evening for Pep Guardiola's side who ultimately lost 2-1 to their German opposition.
Walker is likely to miss the first game of the knockout stages unless UEFA decide to extend the ban, which would be the worst possible outcome for the defender and City.
Speaking after the game, Ferdinand and ex-City defender Joleon Lescott analysed the sending off, coming to the conclusion that not only would one game be more than enough for Walker to miss but that he played below his usual high standards.
"Yeah, I think it’s the one game," Ferdinand said on BT Sports. "I’ve seen worse than that. I would say it was a bit of frustration from his own performance. He wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of that.
"But, no complaints over the red card. I think the one game [ban] will be enough."
Lescott added: "There was something about his overall performance that didn’t just seem like him. I would be surprised if they do extend it to more than one game [ban]. But, definitely a red card in my opinion."
City's defeat didn't alter their standings in Group A, with the Manchester side finishing one point above second-placed Paris Saint-Germain.
