Rio Ferdinand gives Jadon Sancho a new Manchester United chant

Rio Ferdinand has given new Manchester United signing Jadon Sancho the ultimate endorsement after his deal from Borussia Dortmund was confirmed.

Sancho's expected deal was officially announced on Friday, ending weeks of speculation over the transfer. He joins for a fee of £72.9m.

The move has understandably excited United fans, especially given Sancho's cameos for England at Euro 2020. Now confirmed, fans have taken to social media to express their delight at their new right-winger.

And among those fans was former captain Ferdinand, who posted a re-worked version of a classic chant to welcome Sancho's arrival.

Taking the old song for Cristiano Ronaldo, another exciting right-winger, Ferdinand gave Sancho the seal of approval by giving him the 'viva Sancho' chant.

He posted: "Viva Sancho,

"Viva Sancho,

Running down the wing,

"Hear United sing,

"Viva Sancho..."

He followed it up by tagging in the player, as well as United, with a hand shaking emoji in the middle.

Other fans have suggested chants for Sancho based on his past association with Manchester City, where he came through the academy.

They have been posting versions of the chant, originally made for Gary Neville in the Old Trafford stands, which goes: "Jadon Sancho is a red, he hates City!"
