Rio Ferdinand gives inside information about Manchester United dressing room

Rio Ferdinand said he's been told the confidence within the Manchester United squad is coming back after a couple of positive results.

United were superb as they got their Champions League campaign off to the best possible start with a 2-1 victory over last season's runners-up Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.

That victory followed a 4-1 success at St James' Park in the Premier League over the weekend, with United bouncing back from the 6-1 defeat dished out to them by Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the month.

Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand praised the efficiency he saw from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in the victory in Paris and also claimed he had heard from within the club that confidence is returning among the players and that there is a good understanding among the squad.

Solskjaer highlights the key performers in victory over PSG

He said: "There are moments in a season that can kick-start your season. If you get a good performance in a big game, this was that.

"You hear the noises coming out of Old Trafford at the moment - they’re saying the team are playing together now, there’s an understanding, the character is back, the confidence is coming back.

"This was a very, very good performance. It was solid, it was efficient, the players that he trusted were in there and they ended up delivering on the night. Marcus Rashford seems to love Paris, two match-winners when he’s been there."
