Rio Ferdinand gives damning verdict on Tottenham's display in draw at Olympiacos

Rio Ferdinand has criticised Tottenham Hotspur for their poor second-half display at Olympiacos after throwing away a two-goal lead in Greece.

Having led the game 2-0 thanks to a Harry Kane penalty and a Lucas Moura strike, Spurs conceded just before half-time, akin to their recent capitulation against Arsenal.

Mauricio Pochettino's side then conceded a penalty of their own after a challenge from Jan Vertonghen, allowing Mathieu Valbuena to level the score.

Tottenham were rocked by the hosts' equaliser and offered very little in what can only be described as a languid display.

Christan Eriksen looked well short of his best, while Dele Alli struggled to create any chances after making his first start of the season.

Heung-min Son was and Erik Lamela were both called from the bench to try to inject some life into Spurs' passive performance, but neither were successful and they spurned the chance to take a stranglehold of Group B.

Having thrown away a 2-0 lead in similar circumstances only a few weeks ago against their north London rivals, Ferdinand was critical of their display.

Speaking to BT Sport after the match, the former Manchester United and England defender said: "Spurs will be kicking themselves. You go 2-0 up away from home, you silence the crowd and you go and throw it away like that. Lapses of concentration.

"The experiences of last season, you’d think they’d have learned from that but it just seems they haven’t. I think they’re going to go back and [Mauricio] Pochettino will be gutted with a few individuals. But as a team performance, I thought they were just slack and lax.

"And even with the last bit there with [Hugo] Lloris, he kind of epitomised the performance today, coming out, lacklustre."
