Rio Ferdinand got Manchester United fans excited as he dug up an old tweet posted by Jadon Sancho.
MEN Sport revealed last week Inter Milain were confident of securing a permanent deal for Alexis Sanchez, 31, early in the transfer window and the Chilean's move to Italy could accelerate Sancho's move to United.
United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was at the club's Carrington training complex on Monday morning amid plans to secure a British record deal for Sancho, which is expected to include sizeable add-ons.
Despite Borussia Dortmund demanding in excess of €100m and setting a deadline of August 10 for any deal to be completed, United are confident of completing a deal.
On Tuesday, Ferdinand highlighted a tweet Sancho sent in 2015 which said: "Very inspirational man, @rioferdy5 knowing he grew up in the same area as me, a lot of respect."
Ferdinand then quote tweeted the tweet with the classic shifty-eyes eye emoji, sparking plenty of suggestive comments from the United fan base.
The MEN first revealed United's interest in Sancho when they tried to sign him from City in 2017 but their rivals blocked a move and Sancho joined Dortmund for £8m.
